Visit Our Cosmetic Dentistry Office for Dental Implants and Replace Your Loose Dentures

Cosmetic DentistIn our Houston cosmetic dentistry office, we use dental implants as a secure and sturdy way to replace missing teeth. While many of our patients come to us immediately upon losing one or several teeth, others visit our office complaining of loose-fitting dentures. Unfortunately, this is a common problem, in part due to resorption. After tooth loss, your jawbone will change shape because the body will begin to leach calcium from it. This creates a situation where your dentures may no longer fit securely. If you are in this situation and tired of worrying about your teeth at dinner, dental implants may be right for you.

Why dental implants are better than dentures

At our cosmetic dentistry office, we can provide a variety of ways to replace missing teeth. While dentures are reliable, they cannot compete with dental implants. An implant is the only solution that we surgically implant under the gums and secure to the jawbone. Other solutions, like dentures, only deal with tooth loss from outside of the gums. This ignores one fundamental problem: the jawbone needs the stimulation it receives from the root and tooth in order to stop the process of resorption.

Once the body begins to leach calcium from the jaw, it cannot only change the shape of the jaw but can also create a sunken and aged appearance. Dental implants can help to prevent or limit resorption after placement.

Full functionality

As a cosmetic dentistry office, we also like dental implants due to how functional they are. When you have implants, you do not need to worry about your teeth and how they will function when you do something like take a big bite out of a crunchy green apple. This is one of the simple enjoyments of life and not being able to do it can be incredibly inconvenient.

This is where dental implants can make life more enjoyable, you can eat whatever you like and not have to think about it or plan for how you will do it. With dentures, for example, you may need to cut that same apple into thin slices to eat individually. If you do not have the proper utensils with you, that snack may be off of the table.

Simultaneously, implants are easy to take care of. You do not need to buy any special cleaners, pastes or soaking solutions like you do when wearing dentures. All you need to do is brush your teeth with a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste like you normally would. You will need to floss daily as well and be sure to receive ongoing dental care to keep the rest of your mouth healthy.

This will be enough to keep your implants in good condition and ensure that they remain in place for years to come. As a result, implants are the easiest solution that you could find to replace your missing teeth. While the initial procedure takes longer to complete and it is surgical, the effort is well worth it considering the lifelong benefits that you will derive from it.
