Dr. Hee Kyung "Kris" Yang is a general dentist who has proudly performed all aspects of general dentistry and orthodontics in Southeast Houston since 1983.

She was born in Seoul, Korea, and moved to the United States to attend Baylor University in Waco, Texas. After completion of her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology, she went to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston's Dental Branch to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. In 1983, she opened her dental office in Southeast Houston. She also attended several orthodontic programs, including Progressive Orthodontics and Invisalign, to provide her patients' comprehensive orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Yang is known in the area and among patients as a gentle dentist, while also taking particular care to understand and discuss the patients concerns and needs.

When she is not providing dental care to her patients, she attends numerous continuing education courses across the nation in her consistent effort to update her skills. In addition she is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Association, and the American Orthodontic Society. She enjoys taking care of her two loving dogs and two cats.

Dr. Joe M Fung is a general dentist in Southeast Houston and Metro Southwest Houston in Rice Village and Upper Kirby since 1990.

He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. He continued his education at Baylor University, where he met his wife Dr. Yang, to earn his Masters of Science in Biochemistry. He entered the workforce as chief chemist at Antech Diagnostics for metal and environmental water testing. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgical degree in 1989 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston's Dental Branch. He then attended the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio for his post-doctoral education in sedation dentistry. He has trained in all phases of dentistry during his residency at Bexar County Hospital. He also has training and in nitrous, implant dentistry, and IV sedation, of which he gained his permits from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.

In 2009, Dr. Fung won the "Best Dentist Award" from Texas Press.

He is a very warm-hearted dentist, with his skills in sedation he is able to treat apprehensive patients comfortably in office. He believes if he can clearly explain to the patient what he desires to accomplish, the patients fears will dissipate.

His hobbies include traveling, taking care of his saltwater fish aquarium with coral at their home and freshwater fish tank at their office. As with Dr. Yang, he loves to take care of their four pets.

Orthodontics is rewarding on so many levels, and I feel truly blessed to know that I am able to have such a big impact on the lives of my patients. I love being an orthodontist because of the patients. When patients come to this practice wanting to improve their smiles, and we are able to meet and exceed their expectations, there's no better feeling than knowing that I am able to help them improve their health and self-confidence. I have been practicing dentistry for over 20 years in The Woodlands, and I can honestly say that, given the chance, I would do it all over again!

Continuing Education

Continuing education is an integral part of my practice. I regularly participate in continuing education in an effort to provide my patients with the most advanced and efficient treatment options available. I participate in continuing education courses in the U.S. as well as abroad through the World Federation of Orthodontics.

Outside Of The Practice

I am originally from the Rio Grande Valley, and have lived in The Woodlands for almost 20 years. I have two sons, Chandler and Grant. When I'm not at the practice, I enjoy spending time with my family, and together we like to travel and explore new places. We also enjoy skiing, golfing, fishing, football, and swimming. I am actively involved in the community and for the past six years I have been a volunteer with the Montgomery Community Clinic. I also enjoy supporting our local schools, and sponsoring local youth sports teams.
